About Academic Affairs Division Registration Application

About course registration

A course enrollment application is when you apply for a course for which you wish to earn credits in that academic year.
Based on your individual study plan, you will register all the courses you will need for that academic year through the online course registration system in April (March for current students).
Please note that there are revision periods in late April for the first semester and late September for the second semester, during which you can make revisions to courses other than those that have already been registered and those that have been registered as classes.

If you do not register for a course within the designated period or register incorrectly, you will not be able to earn credits even if you attend classes and take exams.
Course registration is done via computer. Instructions on how to do this are published in the "Web Course Registration Guidebook."
To use the application system, you will need an ID and password. This is the same ID and password you use for computer-related classes.
In addition, for those who do not own a computer, the on-campus computer lab will be open to the public during the application period.

*For details, please see the "Web Course Application Guidebook."

※About course enrollment and completion
"Courses" means registering for and studying courses specified in the curriculum in order to earn credits.
"Acquisition" means that you have completed a course, received a passing grade, and been awarded credits.

Elective Subjects

Students can take specialized education courses from other faculties (faculties other than their own) and departments (departments other than their own). (These are called "optional courses.")
The number of credits that can be taken and the number of those that can be recognized as graduation credits vary depending on the faculty, department, and year of enrollment.
In addition, please select optional subjects from the subjects that can be confirmed (displayed) on the online course application screen. (Some subjects are not permitted to be taken as optional subjects.)

Course registration procedure

① Gather the necessary information (items)

Before applying, please prepare the following documents 1) to 5).
For new students, it is in April, and for current students, it is in late March.

  1. Curriculum Table (published in the handbook)
  2. Lecture timetable (distributed every year)
  3. Web Syllabus
A syllabus is a document that describes the lecture (class) plan and lecture content (outline).
The following search methods will also be used to check what types of courses are offered, the content of the courses, and the grading criteria.
[How to search the online syllabus (lesson plan)]
  4. Gradebook
This is necessary to check the subjects and credits you have acquired, as well as the subjects and credits required for graduation.
  5. "Web Course Application Guidebook"
A booklet containing the online course application schedule, operation manual, etc. (distributed every year)

② Make a study plan

Based on the necessary information listed in ①, check the “Class Registration Application Draft Form” at the end of the “Online Course Application Guidebook” and enter your course plan into the “Class Registration Application Draft Form.”

Points to note when planning your course

  1. Please read the "Web Syllabus (Class Plan)" in advance to choose the courses you want to take.
  2. Please select the subjects you wish to study from the courses offered in each time slot and apply to take them. The content of each student's timetable will be different even if they are in the same faculty or department.
  3. Please plan your timetable with an emphasis on meeting the number of credits required for graduation.
  4. There are various types of courses, such as those that are restricted by student ID number or year, those that specify the lectures to be taken in advance (pre-determined lectures), those that determine the students by lottery, those that specify the lectures to be taken based on the results of a placement test, etc. Please carefully check the conditions for taking the course, which are written in the remarks column of the lecture timetable.
  5. You cannot retake a course for which you have already received credit.
  6. Please be sure to attend each guidance session.

③ Complete the course registration process

1. Class registration application

For courses where students are selected by lottery, applications are accepted and the lottery is processed prior to the application process. Students can only take the course if they are selected in the lottery. Please note that students cannot cancel their registration for a lecture (class) once they have been selected. For details, please see the "Class Registration Draft Form" at the end of the "Web Course Application Guidebook."

Important! Class Registration Application

If you wish to take a course that has a limit on the number of students allowed to enroll (a course marked with a "●", "○", or "◎" to the left of the course name on the lecture schedule), please apply during the class registration period.
Class registration applications are done online in the following order: "Registration → Lottery, Class Selection → Result Announcement." However, depending on the subject, if there are a large number of applicants, you may not be able to take the course (you may not win the lottery).
For details, please refer to "Class Registration" in the "Web Course Registration Guidebook."
