Entrance Exam Q&A

About the application

Do I need a letter of recommendation to apply for the school recommendation type open recommendation entrance exam?

For open recommendation entrance examinations, the principal's seal on the school report will serve as the recommendation, so there is no need to submit a recommendation letter.

When applying, is a "Study Report" required for each exam date?

If you are applying for different dates within the same entrance examination, you only need to submit one school report. Also, if you are reapplying, you do not need to submit a school report. (However, if you wish to resubmit a school report for the general late entrance examination, please submit it during the application period.)

If I don't participate in the open campus, can I still apply for the AO entrance exam?

Participation in the open campus is not a mandatory condition for applying for the AO entrance exam at our university, but it is an important event that allows you to get a feel for the university atmosphere. You can also attend a course to prepare for the AO entrance exam, so it is advisable to participate.

Can I apply from a smartphone?

You can also apply using your smartphone. However, you will need to print out your application documents after registering. Please cut out and use the "Photo submission form for online applications" and "Envelope label."

I closed the screen immediately after registering my application. Where can I download the application documents?

Click the "Registration Confirmation" button at the top of our online application page, enter your date of birth, name, and online application serial number, proceed to the confirmation screen, and download the necessary documents.

What should I do if I forget my online application serial number?

Your application information will be sent to the email address you registered when you applied, so please check it there.

Can I make changes such as cancellations or additions after registering for my online application?

Once the entrance examination fee has been paid, it cannot be changed. Please contact Admissions Center of our university. (Please note that the entrance examination fee cannot be refunded.)

I forgot to pay the entrance examination fee and can no longer pay it.

If the payment deadline has passed, your registration will be invalid. Please register a new online application. If you have already sent your application documents, please contact Admissions Center of our university with your newly registered and paid serial number. However, if the application deadline has passed, you will not be able to register your application.

Can I apply based on only the two highest scores in each subject?

For the general early entrance exam (C schedule) and general mid-term entrance exam, the basic application method is the "standard method" "three-subject assessment". In addition, the "highest score two-subject assessment" will be the same faculty, department, course, and preference order as the "three-subject assessment". Please note that three subjects are required on the day, so please do not be absent.
*For the entrance examination using the Common University Entrance Test (early and mid-term), you can apply for both the "highest score in two subjects" and/or the "highest score in three subjects" system.

If I apply for both the National Center Test for University Admissions and the general entrance examination, will I be exempt from the entrance examination fee for the National Center Test for University Admissions unless I register for the examination at the same time?

If you do not register for both applications at the same time, the "examination fee exemption system" will not be applied. If you have registered for both applications separately and have not paid the entrance examination fee, please register for a new application. Also, if you have already paid the entrance examination fee, it will be considered an additional application, so please contact the Admissions Center of our university.

What does re-application mean?

If you have applied online for multiple entrance exams (public recommendation entrance exams, qualification acquisition entrance exams, general entrance exams, etc.) at least once, you can reapply using the serial number you used for your previous application. In this case, you do not need to submit application documents. Please note that applications registered after taking the AO entrance exam, sports club entrance exam, or cultural club entrance exam are treated as new registrations, so you cannot enter information from the "reapply" banner. You will need to register and submit a new application document.

Can I apply to Faculty of Design Technology or Faculty of Engineering with only liberal arts subjects?

I studied elementary and junior high at a school overseas, and am now attending a Japanese school from high school onwards. Can I apply for the international student entrance exam?

Students who have attended a Japanese elementary school, junior high school, high school, or secondary school for a total of three years or less out of the 12-year curriculum are also eligible to apply.

Judging method

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to choosing subjects?

In the open recommendation entrance examination and general entrance examination, if it is determined that there is an extreme difference in the average score between elective subjects due to differences in the difficulty of the entrance examination questions, a score adjustment may be made using the "median correction method" to ensure that no examinee is given an advantage or disadvantage.
For more information, please see "Score Adjustments" on page 11 of the Entrance Examination Guide "Digital Brochure".

Is there an entrance examination system that makes use of students' strong subjects?

For the public recommendation entrance exam and general entrance exam (early and mid-term), there is an entrance exam system called the "designated subject emphasis method" in which the pass/fail judgment is made by doubling the scores of subjects determined by the faculty/department. For details, please refer to pages 25-28 (public recommendation entrance exam) or 29-34 (general entrance exam) of the entrance exam guide "digital pamphlet". In addition, for the general entrance exam (early and mid-term), there is also an entrance exam system called the "selected subject emphasis method" in which the pass/fail judgment is made by doubling the scores of selected subjects. For details, please refer to pages 29-34.

My overall academic performance is low, but is it possible for me to pass the public recommendation entrance exam?

Yes, that is possible. In the public admissions test, there is a system called the "basic evaluation method" in which the pass/fail decision is made based only on the score of the academic ability test on the day, without using the overall learning results to decide whether the student passes or fails.
For more details, please refer to pages 25-28 of the Entrance Examination Guide "Digital Brochure."?

Can I apply using only the "Basic Assessment Method," "Specified Subject Emphasis Method," or "Elective Subject Emphasis Method"?

No. For public recommendation entrance examinations, the basic application method is the "Comprehensive Evaluation Method," and for general entrance examinations, the "Standard Method." Please note that there are cases where the "Designated Subject Emphasis Method" and "Elective Subject Emphasis Method" are not adopted.

What sports are eligible for the "athletic ability bonus" application?

The target events are the "examination events" and "target events" implemented in the university's sports club entrance exams.
For details, please refer to page 20 of the Entrance Examination Guide "Digital Brochure." Applications are not accepted for any subjects other than those listed above.

Admission Procedures

If I pass the entrance exam for a school I have applied to and have completed the enrollment procedures, can I take the exam again?

The entrance examination fee will be charged again, but after completing the enrollment procedures for multiple application entrance examinations such as the public recommendation entrance examination, you can retake the entrance examination for the tuition exemption/reduced fee type entrance examination for outstanding students (5 subjects type using the common test, general early C schedule), or you can complete the enrollment procedures for your second choice or lower and retake the exam for your first choice. If you pass the entrance examination, you can transfer the payment you have already made to the newly accepted payment. Please consider this. However, students who have passed single application entrance examinations such as the designated school recommendation entrance examination, AO entrance examination, sports club entrance examination, and cultural club entrance examination cannot retake the exam.

I have passed the entrance exam, paid the enrollment fee and submitted the necessary paperwork, but what happens if I fail to pay my tuition fees and other fees by the deadline?

Admission will not be permitted. Even if you have paid the admission fee and submitted the necessary documents, you will not be admitted if you are unable to complete the payment of tuition fees and other fees within the deadline. There are two procedures for admission: (1) paying the admission fee and submitting the necessary documents, and (2) paying tuition fees and other fees. If you do not complete both of these procedures within the designated admission procedure period, you will not be admitted. Please be very careful as you will be treated as having "declined admission." Please be aware that there are cases every year where students have forgotten to do (2) and the deadline has passed, resulting in them being treated as having "declined admission."

Can I decline admission after completing the enrollment procedures (paying the enrollment fee and tuition fees, submitting the enrollment procedure documents)?

Only those who have completed the enrollment procedures for multiple application exams, such as the public recommendation exam, general exam, or the entrance exam using the common university entrance test, will be allowed to decline admission by submitting the application documents for admission decline by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024 (must arrive at the university). In addition, only if the admission decline is approved, tuition fees, educational environment improvement fees, and various membership fees, excluding the admission fee, will be refunded. Please note that the applicant will be responsible for bank transfer fees when making the refund. However, please note that those who have been successful in single application exams, such as the designated school recommendation exam, AO exam, sports club exam, or cultural club exam, cannot decline admission.

I have contracted an infectious disease such as influenza. What should I do?

If you have contracted an infectious disease for which the School Health and Safety Act stipulates suspension of attendance (such as influenza, the new coronavirus, measles, chickenpox, etc.) and have not yet recovered, you will not be able to take the exam, as there is a risk of infecting other test takers. If you have any questions about the exam, such as applying to reschedule the test date, please contact our university's Admissions Center.

I got injured right before the entrance exam. Can I still take the exam?

Please be sure to contact the University Admissions Center through your high school before the exam date. Depending on the severity of your injury, we will discuss with you whether or not it is necessary to take special measures, such as extending the exam time.

Will the results be posted on campus?

No. Please check the results by searching "Web Results Information" on our university's website. Results can be checked for 10 days after the results are announced.
